Kony Solutions, a provider of mobile and online banking platforms, announced that Banco Itau Unibanco, Latin America’s largest bank, will build its next generation of retail banking apps on the KonyOne platform. Banco Itau Unibanco is headquartered in Sao Paulo and boasts $540 billion in assets and approximately 40 million customers.

The bank plans to port its existing apps to Kony’s platform and build a series of new apps for both internal and external stakeholders. The retail apps will include investment banking, insurance, private equity and asset management.

“We chose to standardize on Kony after a highly detailed and extensive global evaluation process including SAP, IBM, Antenna and OpenText including side-by-side tests of different vendor offerings,” said Marcelo Fabeni, Chief Mobile Officer, for Banco Itau Unibanco.

Kony’s customers include more than 70 Fortune 500 companies, including many of the world’s top banks.
