A survey of mobile shoppers in the United States done by market intelligence firm Wedbush Decisions Metrics indicates that mobile commerce will serve as a driver of market leaders such as Amazon and eBay in both the short and long term.
Highlights of the study include the following:
- Mobile wallets are already used by 8% of consumers, and 35% more indicated a propensity to use a mobile wallet.
- A typical consumer has three commerce apps on his phone, two of which are eBay and Amazon.
- PayPal has the lead in the mobile wallet race. 85% of consumers trust PayPal vs. less than 30% for Square.
