Don’t think of Square as a payments company anymore.
That’s the central message from Square’s newly released recruiting video, which hit YouTube yesterday. Square is just as much a hardware company, according to its new marketing.
Of course, Square introduced the dongle to payments a few years ago, but the company now is building more equipment along the lines of the Square Stand, which hit Apple and Best Buy stores last July. Or, in the words of one hardware developer at Square featured on the video, “The company says to us, ‘What have you got for us now?'”
