The recently independent PayPal is assembling a new enterprise risk unit.
The team, for which PayPal has started hiring, will be based in Austin, Texas.
The ERM team will report to PayPal’s Office of the Chief Information Officer. It is unclear how large will be the team, which is a direct result of PayPal’s split from eBay last summer. According to PayPal, the new team will “align” with “critical global business, technology, and delivery functions within the broader PayPal organization.”
A job listing for a position on the new team describes the ERB mission as including preparation for audits and remediation, and vulnerabilities and threat management. PayPal was hit with a CFPB fine last May for allegedly breaking the law in pushing credit products to customers.
PayPal arrived in Austin in 2007, and has built up a large team there over the past several years. PayPal currently lists nine job openings in the Austin area, including positions related to the new ERM team.
