Each year, we poll the industry to find out. Fintech funding has grown tougher to raise though total volume, because of a few monster deals, may exceed the previous year.

Finovate this year pursued many themes that would have been familiar in 2013, if not earlier — authentication and personal financial management, as well as newer items like the rise of chatbots and artificial intelligence.

But what fintech companies are doing isn’t the most important piece of this. A year ago blockchain was the topic du jour, but a year later, we are still waiting for a successful iteration, and we may be waiting for some time. What innovations are banks actually devoting resources to? That’s what we’re looking to find out with this survey.

To assess the true state of financial innovation, we offer this survey on the State of Banking Innovation.

We will be making donations to AirLink, a great charity for global disaster relief, for every response we get. Results from the survey will be shared here on Bank Innovation.
