Bank Innovation Relaunches

Today, Bank Innovation releases its most significant redesign and relaunch since the site initially dropped online in 2009.

We hope you love the new Bank Innovation.

When we started Bank Innovation, while the crosswinds of the credit crisis were still swirling, we were the lone voice for innovation at banks. I recall introducing Bank Innovation to one banker at the time. “How are you even putting the words ‘bank’ and ‘innovation’ together?” he asked. Today, there is barely a bank in this nation that does not have some sort of innovation endeavor underway. Mission accomplished.

Now to our next mission. It is not just a matter of banking deploying an “innovation strategy,” but doing so in the smartest, most-efficient way possible. This next Bank Innovation chapter will have us not just sharing fintech developments, but explaining how you can successfully deploy them, and how your organization can become an extraordinary innovation operation. At the new Bank Innovation, you will find insights and ideas for Innovation Professionals, not just the “bright shiny technology objects” of the day.

To that end, the site has been reimagined. We will present Innovation Strategy alongside New Technology. We also introduce a new section called DataBank that will aggregate the numbers you need to make the right decisions. You can expect regular features that delve into challenging fintech topics. Finally, our JobBank has been overhaul and improved, and we have plans to continue adding features that will make your Bank Innovation experience more meaningful.

So as we embark on this new beta and new chapter, we ask for your suggestions and feedback — good and bad. In the end, Bank Innovation was created to be a portal for that lone innovation advocate pleading for a better banking experience for all. The site remains so today and forever.

JJ started the first iteration of Bank Innovation back in 2007, and has been working on it ever since. He also serves as President & Chief Executive Officer of Royal Media, Bank Innovation’s parent. He founded Royal in 1995 and oversees all aspects of the New York-based diversified media company. Prior to forming Royal, JJ was on the editorial staff of American Banker, the daily newspaper, and worked as an editor of a business magazine in Hong Kong. As a reporter and editor, he has won journalism awards from the National Press Foundation, Newsletter & Electronic Publishers Foundation, and the Reader’s Digest Foundation. He has a BS in Economics from Yeshiva University and a Master’s from the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism. He was also a Fellow at the University of Wisconsin-Madison Graduate School of Banking. He lives in New York City with his wife, two daughters, and son.
