Follow the money is a good rule for everyone—even cybercriminals, who tend to target the finance industry quite often.
According to the Global Threat Report released today by NTT Security, finance is in the top three industries at risk of cyberattacks across the globe — or at least for the regions included in the study (North America, Australia, Europe, Middle East, and Africa). It was followed by the manufacturing industry, which appeared in the top three for five out of the six regions studied.
By percentage, finance is tied for the first place with government-related attacks, both of which were subjected to 14% of all attacks launched, according to the report.
The report looked at more than six billion attempted attacks over a 12-month period, which translates to about 16 million attacks per day around the globe.
The NTT Security 2017 Global Threat Intelligence Report contains global attack and incident response data gathered from NTT Security and supported operating companies from Oct. 1, 2015 to Sept. 31, 2016.
