Mobile and electronics company, Samsung and Bank of America will start working with a focus group over the next six months, as they pilot the iris authentication scan that will allow customers to log into their bank accounts on their mobiles by taking a picture of their eye.
The focus group consists of 1, 5000 Samsung and BofA employees, and was specially picked to represent the bank’s customer base, according to reports by Finovate.
The program is still in early works according to media reports. However, the biometric authentication seems like a next step forward for the bank’s 20 million active mobile users, according to the bank’s site, who currently use the fingerprint authentication scan to log into their accounts through their phones.
As of now, there is no timeframe set for the release of the iris scan.
