For those customers withdrawing their money from Wells Fargo, the bank has now added another way to over 5,000 of its ATMs: users can now use NFC or “tap and pay” at the terminal.
The capability works through the customer’s mobile wallet feature — for now, it’s available for Apple, Android, or Samsung Pay customers, using the Wells Fargo Mobile Wallet — and allows a customer to simply tap their phone against the ATM to begin their transaction.
This capability will be available for about 40% of the ATMs in Wells’ network, according to the bank. It follows the bank’s launch of “card free” ATMs, where a user could access their funds at the terminal via a one-time access code sent through their phone.
