EXCLUSIVE- SunTrust Banks Inc has joined the network of institutions using the Zelle realtime payments network. The service is now accessible via SunTrust’s suite of mobile apps.
The Zelle network is owned by Early Warning, a provider of payments and security solutions. In October 2017, EW announced Q3 payments of $17.5 billion, involving more than 60 million realtime transactions.
Early Warning is owned by Bank of America, BB&T, Capital One, JPMorgan Chase, PNC, U.S. Bank, and Wells Fargo. The company purchased clearXchange in Jan. 2016. Zelle’s network now includes dozens of banks, as well as major service providers such as Fiserv, FIS, and Jack Henry, and the networks Mastercard and Visa (themselves formerly bank-owned.)
