If you work in the financial space, chances are you notice bank ads when they come up on the tube. Which ones made you take notice this year?
From the sentimental to the silly, banks occasionally featured celebrities in 2013, but mostly focused on the ordinary folks who make up their customer base.
Perhaps the bank advertising news story of the year involved Capital One Financial Corp., which experienced some blowback over its Samuel L. Jackson Quicksilver spot, during which he uttered the d*** word. Also of note was Santander poking fun at Robert DeNiro in a longish ad lampooning the star as, well, not someone you’d want to sit next to at a movie.
Bank of America Corp., meanwhile, released a widely seen spot — and one that garnered over 1 million YouTube views — for an ad that attempts to capture the totality of life across several generations of a family, and, by implication, the way financial services touch those lives.
Bank Innovation has gathered the 2013 ads that we think bring out the best in banking, from the technology of mobile check deposit to the old-fashioned charm of kids saving coins to buy sweets. We made sure to include some spots from other countries that American viewers probably didn’t see during a sitcom or football game.
Below is a link to our gallery of the 11 best banking ads of the year. We will name one of those the Best Banking Ad of the Year later today.
