In view of Cash trapping fraud reported here; http://m.timesofindia.com/city/bengaluru/ATM-fraud-How-to-withdraw-cash-but-keep-bank-balance-intact/articleshow/45060564.cms, would it be correct to assert that the ATM Electronic Journal Log is an accurate historical data of transactions that are executed on the ATM as it is programmed to capture every aspect of a withdrawal transaction from the beginning to the close thereof?
Is it possible for the electronic ATM journal log to report that cash was presented and taken when in fact that wasn’t the case when for e.g. there is mechanical failure of the cash dispenser unit (e.g. faulty rollers or belts in the dispenser unit) at the point of dispensing cash and the cash is trapped?
