Simple and Lemon Wallet updated their iPhone apps yesterday.
Simple provides its banking service to some 35,000 customers, and Lemon Wallet, one of the iPhone’s most downloaded apps, is a mobile wallet provider, allowing users to store digital copies of all their cards.
Simple’s update includes extending its Goals platform to mobile. It was previously only available online. Goals [at left] is a budgeting tool that allows users to automatically or manually set funds aside for certain purchases — vacations, a new bicycle, etc. This results in Simple’s well known “Safe to Spend” balance.
The company is still bragging about its famous waiting list — out of a quarter million requests, only approximately 35,000 users hold accounts.
Last week, Simple made it easier to transfer funds into and out of its account, and this ACH transfer can be made for free.
Lemon Wallet’s update, meanwhile, includes a compartment for its paid service, Wallet Plus, which has enhanced security and information on when cards are due to expire, among other features. The update also added the ability to check balances and transactions — a step in the direction of PFM, or personal financial management software, for Lemon.
Both updates were made only to the companies’ iPhone apps, but their Android apps are hardly neglected. Simple’s was updated on May 29, while Lemon Wallet’s was enhanced on June 10.
Simple’s deposits are held by The Bancorp Bank, which also issues its Visa debit card.
