Eve Callahan, senior vice president of communications for Umpqua Bank, has joined the speaker faculty for Bank Innovation 2014, which will take place March 3-4 in Seattle.
Callahan will join the panel, “Advanced Marketing in a Socially Connected World,” which will be moderated by Matt Wilcox, managing director, marketing strategy and innovation, for Fiserv. At Umpqua, Callahan has responsibility over all internal and external communications, including Umpqua’s public relations strategy, and oversees the bank’s extensive community responsibility programs.
Portland, Ore.-based Umpqua Bank is known for its creative approach to the customer experience and its offbeat marketing. Few banks would have the temerity to call themselves ‘The greatest bank in the world” with a straight face, but that is just what Umpqua does.
Last August, the bank opened a new flagship branch in San Francisco with an Apple Store-style aesthetic, lounge areas, and a large number of interactive screens for users to engage. A particular touch that shows the Umpqua way of doing things is an old-fashioned silver telephone that allows branch visitors to call the desk of Umpqua CEO Ray Davis.
Umpqua Bank has 184 locations between San Francisco, Calif., and Seattle along the Oregon and Northern California Coast, Central Oregon and Northern Nevada. The bank has about $12 billion in assets.
