MoolahMe, which was a runner-up at this weekend’s TechCrunch Disrupt hackathon, wants everyone to be an ATM.
Here’s how it works: Let’s say you need some cash. You put a query out for someone to give you, say, $20. Someone who has $20 of cash nearby will indicate that she is willing to “MoolahMe” you. The first person takes the $20 and then digitally gives the money back to the other party.
Check out how it works here.
The thing is the feature looks a lot like a service Apple patented recently. That patent describes a service “whereby a user would post requests for small amounts of cash using their iPhone, which other nearby users could respond to to provide some quick funds when there’s no ATM nearby.”
Darned patents!
