Leading Chinese mobile payment service, Alipay, is expanding its platform to the Nordic region for use of Chinese tourists, the company announced today.
Alipay has signed separate “MoU” agreements with services in Finland and Sweden, as well as with the Scandinavian Tourist Board, which will allow merchants in these counts to accept payments from the mobile payment app.
The company has signed deals with Finland’s “Finpro,” a government organization dedicated to trade, tourism, and investment in the country. In Sweden, Alipay is now linked with the Swedish Trade Federation (or Svensk Handel) for the same purpose.
With this expansion, Alipay is continuing its focus on its Chinese customer base. The agreements will also allow Swedish and Finnish merchants to market to Alipay customers “before, during, and after” visiting.
