Wells Fargo today announced a standalone personal finance management app, called Greenhouse, for those customers who are new to banking and need an easier way to manage their finances.
The app, which is set to officially launch in the first half of 2018, enables a customer to open a bank account without walking into a bank branch, and can be used “within minutes” of opening, according to the bank.
The app is designed to appeal to those customers who are familiar with digital and mobile solutions but relatively unfamiliar with banking; Greenhouse provides spending and saving insights to customers using artificial intelligence, for example, but does not offer overdraft coverage.
Wells Fargo’s plans for a mobile first, financially inclusive app mirror the efforts of its competitors, most notably JPMorgan Chase, which just launched a similar app (named Finn) last month.
