Nordea Bank today announced it is rolling out contactless payment options for its customers in Sweden, Denmark and Finland, thus becoming the first major Nordic bank to offer payments on both major wearables players Garmin and Fitbit.
The move comes as a part of the bank’s updated Nordea Wallet offering, enabling users quick and on-the-go cashless payment methods.
The contact payment options will be available to Nordea customers with private Nordea Mastercard or Visa debit or credit cards.

Marcus Bjärneroth, Nordic marketing Director for Garmin, said in a statement today:
We are excited and very glad over this possibility together with Nordea. We see that the market is rapidly maturing, and more and more people want to use cashless solutions, both for safety and convenience. From the high number of our active sports and fitness customers, we see a desire to make both ordinary day-to-day activities and sports activities such as running, biking and golfing, for example, smoother and safer – avoiding the hassle of using cash or cellphones.
