Long lines were forming outside AT&T shops long before dawn this morning — and least in Manhattan — in what can only be described as a consumer frenzy.
But all the hype surrounding the iPhone 6/6 Plus launch today was leveraged to a whole other level today by MasterCard, an Apple Pay partner.
Apparently, MasterCard is “surprising” consumers on line for new iPhones today with mini cakes that say, “#PricelessSurprises.” We are not sure the cakes’ flavor, in case you were wondering.

One recipient tweeted, “Waiting in line never tasted so good!”
But Jane Fiore, who has worked in marketing at Univision and currently markets US Figure Skating events, had it right.
“Oh, that is a SWEET guerrilla marketing move,” Fiore tweeted today.
Even MasterCard goes guerrilla now and then.
