EXCLUSIVE- The original cryptocurrency bitcoin finally hit a $10K valuation per coin earlier this morning, and it has since soared past $11K, and Twitter has some feelings.
The valuation comes after a steep climb by the cryptocurrency over the past year or so, with gains of about 1,000%, according to CoinDesk. Bitcoin’s price has been hotly watched over the past few days, when it began to shoot past $7,000, $8,000, and $9,000 valuations.
Bank Innovation has collected some of the best responses to this long-awaited milestone, a moment which could see bitcoin tip over into a ‘mainstream’ form of currency or asset.
There are some that would like to thank the Academy:
Bitcoin hits $10,000. ????????????
Congratulations to all the hodlers! This is by far the strongest Bitcoin bull run I’ve seen in 6+ years.
Now take some profit off the table. You deserve it for believing when no one else around you did. ???? pic.twitter.com/liukpusOZ8

Some seem happy to simply bask in the moment:
Bitcoin over $11k, LTC over $100, ETH passes $500 and DASH through $700.

As the currency continues to climb, here’s a helpful mantra to remember:
I will never short Crypto again. I will never short Crypto again.I will never short Crypto again.I will never short Crypto again.I will never short Crypto again.

Of course, that doesn’t mean one should focus all of their energies (and money) onto bitcoin:
I’m kidding please don’t throw all of your money into bitcoin Jesus Christ people diversify

Others just want to make sure newbies know just how much work it took to get here: the sacrifices are appreciated, Brett, although — a $1,688 Fastmail subscription? Really?
For all of ya gloating about the #Bitcoin price, it’s only got to this point because some of us actually used it to buy things in the real world in the past. Here’s my $850 pizza, $160 bondage tape & $1688 Fastmail subscription from a while ago. Show me your receipts, speculators pic.twitter.com/q0ntU5hR0I

Of course, every milestone has its skeptics: the currency’s rise, while much celebrated, has nonetheless stoked fears of a “bubble” similar to the dotcom boom — with some even stating that the crypto ‘should be outlawed.’
Bitcoin might already be showing signs of market exhaustion even as its price continues to rise, others have stated.
Currently, bitcoin is still rising, hovering at $11,162 as of 10:00 am this morning.
