Mobile-first U.K. neobank Starling Bank has integrated Android Pay into its app, allowing Starling customers to use the digital wallet to make mobile payments.
Customers can use Android Pay for contactless or “tap and pay” payments, a method that’s becoming steadily more popular in the United Kingdom, as Starling announced on Twitter today:
Here it is… Android Pay has officially landed! Add your Starling card to your Android Pay app to tap, pay & go ???? ???? https://t.co/r7eoVFbufH pic.twitter.com/xmorpPzUDn

Android Pay uses NFC, allowing users to pay just by holding up the phone (or other Android device) to a payment terminal without opening either the Starling app or the stand-alone digital wallet.
This announcement follows Starling’s integration of Apple Pay, which also utilizes NFC technology, in July 2017.
