StockTwits, one of the pioneers in social investing, will soon introduce an API that gives access to financial news.
Justin Paterno, president of the company, disclosed the news last night at a small gathering at Cornell University’s tech incubator in New York, but did not give a timing for the release.
StockTwits offers a wide array of API access to its “fire hose” of data on investing. StockTwits is a social network that shares information on equity investments. Paterno said that, beyond the news API, StockTwits “would open up some more” the API access to its current pool of data, without giving additional details.
StockTwits was founded in 2008, and has raised about $8.6 million in venture funding since then, according to Crunchbase.
